Building Your Confidence
Let go of the inferiority failure left behind, and confidence comes back.
Practise confidence forever, or stop needing the practice?
Would you rather repeat confidence exercises for the rest of your life, or let go of the mind that has no confidence — so that the exercises are no longer necessary?
Confidence is low because of what happened, and what you kept. The project that failed. The work that disappointed you. The words from other people that landed and stayed. Piece by piece those made you smaller.
Empty out this much
- The picture of yourself with no confidence — the room, the faces, the words
- Things you never started because you doubted yourself
- Things you started and abandoned after they went wrong
- How you handled failure, and what you told yourself each time
- Shrinking in front of people who do it better than you
The Releasing Method
Find why it dropped, and let that go
Look back over the life you have lived and the reason your confidence fell is right there. You were not born short of it — inferiority, worry, and fear accumulated until the confidence you already had had no room left.
Find what made your mind small and discard it, and confidence comes back on its own. No rehearsal required.
What changes
- Less time and energy lost to worrying
- You can begin things without a run-up
- Time goes where it should instead of into comparison
- You are certain about your own work
- Challenges look like challenges instead of verdicts
Meditation helped me most by giving me self-confidence and positive energy at a time when I was struggling to adapt to a new job, a new language, and a new culture after immigrating. Through meditation I was able to step out of those doubts and gain the wisdom to accept the many opportunities here in Canada.
