How Relationships Become Easy

The relationship that changes the others is the one with yourself.

All Meditation Benefits

Who is really making it hard?

Ask people at work whether the job is hard or the people are hard, and nine out of ten say the people. Almost nobody leaves because of the work itself.

So before you worry about everyone else, it is worth checking one relationship first.

These are the things you can let go of

  • The cold words you reserve for yourself
  • Anger you swallowed instead of saying
  • The need to be liked by everybody
  • Judgements about the person you cannot forgive
  • The habit of reading every room and adjusting yourself to it

The Releasing Method

The coldest person in your life may be you

You accommodate everyone. You hold your tongue when you are angry. And then you say things to yourself you would never say to a friend: "Of course I blew it again." "See? I knew I could not." "Typical — no willpower."

Those words do not disappear. They pile up inside, and what piles up eventually comes back out — at the people around you.

Release the negativity aimed at yourself, and you start accepting yourself as you are. That is where the room to accept anyone else comes from.

What changes

  • You become your own closest friend, first
  • There is room in your mind, so other people fit in it
  • You can accept and respect someone without agreeing with them
  • Difficult conversations stop being events you dread
  • The relationships that matter get repaired, one at a time
